Free Throws

Coach Mac and his 8th grade team was very dominant in the Adidas Memorial day Classic. Dominated pool play and went on to bracket play with the same intentions. They made it to the final 4 where they ran into a guard heavy EOTO team.  DCA 2020 was up for the challenge led by their dynamic back court Reign Watkins and Keaonte Miles they both played very well, Coach Demond McCullough drew up set after set and his guards executed. They went into halftime with a 7 point lead.  The 2nd half DCA kept the peddle to the medal with a very discipline match up zone and a tough man to man defense. EOTO was game they waited for opportunity  to present its self which it did with about 3 mins left in the game down 6 points. A very careless foul on the 3 point line which sent EOTO to the line which they nailed all 3 free throws then DCA came down with a very careless turnover in which EOTO scored a timely lay up. DCA was up 1 with about 30 secs Reign was fouled and went 1 for 2 from the charity stripe making it a 2 point game, with less then 10 seconds left in the game #22 from EOTO hits a big 15 footer to send the game into overtime. With overtime approaching the momentum was still in DCA favor, with DCA going to the free throw line 3 different times with a chance to put the game away DCA went 1-6 leaving the door open for EOTO to slip threw and secure a 69-68 victory.

DCA 2020 understands they let 1 slip away from them and they also understand that their road doesn't get any easier with the Under Armour Invitational 3 weeks away then the EYBL 8th grade finale right after.  DCA 2020 has their work cut out for them. If anyone knows Coach Mack he will have his boys well prepared and ready to lace up against whoever. Overall DCA showed they are definitely 1 of the top 8th grade teams in the city this weekend if not the top team.
